Wedding Wednesday

Two weekends ago i spent a big chunk of my Sunday compiling these invitations for my friends Jen and Mark who get married in February. Jen knew she wanted Kraft paper colouring and gave me a few ideas and this is what I came up with. The paper was purchased from lava stationary, the envelopes are poppies for grace the doily paper was from a local shop called super dollar and the twine from the reject shop.

I looked on pinterest for inspiration. Heres some other invitations I really liked.

It's got me thinking about our wedding invitations. I think I'll actually make them these school holidays. I don't want to spoil the surprise for me guests though so i'll keep it under my belt for now.

Wedding Wednesday

I came across a beautiful wedding on Green wedding shoes earlier this week. The wedding was inspired by the store free people, although I haven't been there (it's not in Australia) i have frequented there online store ad perhaps one of my bridesmaid dresses is from there. The bride wore a stunning Sarah Seven dress.

My Favourite part about Adam and Stacy's wedding was the dream catcher seating chart... isn't it creative

Here's a link to the post on their wedding

Wedding Wednesday

A  couple of weeks ago I went to a bridal expo at Wandin Valley Estate at the vineyards to have a look at some different wedding things. I was surprised when i got there to see a Tipi erected out of the side of the venue. This is what it looked like (Little Willow is modelling in front)

I'd LOVE to have a Tipi at our wedding but they do come at an expense of over $3000 for one. They look great grouped together to make a Marquee as well. These Tipi's are the only ones in Australia and are from a company called Tipikata

I came across a gorgeous wedding last year on Conversation pieces blog (i actually thought i had already featured their wedding but I haven't) that had Tipi's I think they look so cool

More images of their amazing wedding can be found on their photographers blog lillyandleonard

How do you feel about Tipi's? I think I'd like one in my backyard

Wedding Wednesday

Way back when I was newly engaged (Just), Megan from McKean Studio posted some lovely pics for inspiration for her wedding bouquet. At the time I thought they were amazing since I really love billy button flowers. I didn't think too much more about it until i started to think about what sort of wedding we were going to have. Since we set the date I decided to go down to the Sydney flower markets to see what was in season in June. My MIL and SIL to be, plus little Willow went on a Tuesday at the crack of dawn (we left home at 4am). Little did we know that Tuesday was a quiet day at the markets, but they still had a great Variety.

I purchased around $100 worth and got so many flowers to play with (some are still alive and I bought them 3 weeks ago) I had a go at making around 4 Bouquets. They weren't too difficult although I didn't wire them like alot of DIY's say to do. I basically followed Elsie's tutorial on A beautiful mess as she made her own Bouquets and got her bridesmaids to make theirs too the night before the wedding. i think this is a great idea and hope my bridesmaids want to do it too.

I even had a go at making a flower crown off a tutorial on youtube. I just used florist wire and tape to make this one, maybe for the flower girls.......
(I have no makeup on)

I'm welcome to suggestions please. Dress shopping with all my bridesmaids and mum Saturday too!

Wedding Wednesday

Today I want to share a wedding that was recently featured on Etsy . It is the wedding of a Melbourne couple Emily and Louis. I wrote about Emily's gorgeous necklaces a few weeks ago here. Emiy made herself and her bridesmaid one of her beautiful necklaces which all matched each girls different dress.

Isn't Emily' dress unique! I like that it is not traditional at all!

Emily had her friends help her create the decorations by hosting a working be (bridesmaids be prepared for this ;), they made all sorts of wonderful things including this paper chandelier that i'm INLOVE with!

head over to Etsy for more details on the wedding or go to Emily's blog! its such a nice, creative wedding!

Wedding Wednesday

Today I thought I'd share a beautiful vintage inspired wedding I found over at green wedding shoes. It is the wedding of Australian couple Amy and Julian.

Amy's dress is vintage! isn't it stunning! I love her flowers as well and how they are pulled together with twine.

I think their bridal party looks great in all different mismatched outfits!

I love how the reception is set up with the plants hanging from the beams. They remind me of plants mum used to have hanging in our dining room and bathroom back in the 90's.

Wedding Wednesday- Bridesmaids

After finally deciding on a venue I thought it was definitely time to ask my bridesmaids. I wanted to wait so that I could give them an idea of when and where the wedding would take place and what sort of wedding it would be. I've known since we got engaged (and really before that) who I would like to have but just wanted it to be right when I asked them. I think this put a little pressure on me as I was trying to think of a creative way to ask them and I had come across the most beautiful way over at Rinse repeat where Bethany made little boxes for her bridesmaids filling them with lovely things (go and look). I decided not to copy (i did look for boxes though haha) ad created these myself.

I purchased some vintage style handkerchiefs from ebay at christmas time and I was tossing up with printing on them or what I ended up doing was wrapping a printed note around them that said "will you be my bridesmaid". Since I had to post 3 I didn't want them to just be pulled out of an ugly envelope so I decided to wrap them in pink Tissue and print a verse on some paper that was an intro to the Hanky, which said "I need something old, new, borrowed, blue and you". I would have loved to have them over for a morning tea and ask them all but as three live away it wasn't going to work. So I posted three and asked the other four individually. Yep thats right seven! :)

They all said yes and here's a little bit about each

Kadi, Matron of honour: my older sister, someone I've always looked up to, shared so much with and has given with me the most wonderful gift, beautiful nieces.
Hayley: My oldest best friend, an adopted sister. We've had so many adventures together, between a car washing business, creating future houses, sharing tears and many a dessert.
Jessica: a ten year friendship that has blossomed into a strong sisterly bond. A fashionista, so generous and a lovely person. Oh and Toby's sister and Willow Bebe's mum.
Stacey: one of my best friends who I luckily get to see the most! We've shared lots of trips and events over the years, too many drinks, not enough sleep but a whole lot of fun!
Peta: so many special memories. The keeper of all my secrets, a beautiful soul that I couldn't live without. She always knows what to say and make me feel better.
Rebecca: first a colleague, now a wonderful friend. Someone I've always admired, works hard, knows how to have an awesome time and has the greatest taste in music!
Ellise: my baby sister, an honest soul in her prime. Brave, kind and gorgeous!

I'm so lucky to have such amazing women in my life and I'm so excited to share our special day with each of them! Now it's toby's turn to ask his boys! I don't think he will be giving hankies, i'd say it'll be over a beer haha

Wedding Wednesday

Last week i purchased the Harper's Bazaar Brides special. It's got some really beautiful things in it including the wedding of Justine (editor of Shop till you drop) and Greg! the wedding was like a mini festival with a Moroccan themed chill out area, a psychic doing love reading, mac and cheese and Creole Chicken. I especially love the sign from the entrance of the wedding and the copious amounts of bunting that the bride and grooms parents made.

The couple opted for a bridal party of 8 flower girls and 2 page boys, i think the little girls look gorgeous in their tulle skirts, and the cake was made by the super talented Hello Naomi who made the cookies for Jessica's baby shower.

Isn't it lovely! Worth buying the magazine for sure!

Polaroid Booth!

Happy Thursday Everyone! One week left of school before easter break Yay! Believe me I am so ready for it!
Today I wanted to share with you the Polaroid booth i set up for our engagement party. I had some left over bows for the bow garland I made so I hot glue gunned these to skewers. I painted some foam card with moustaches and glasses and cut these out and also glued these to skewers. I put out my polaroid, a pile of film, and a chalkboard I still had from jessica's baby shower. I think my sister started it off and then alot of people had a turn. It was fun. heres some pics

it was lots of fun I recommend it for any event
