Trying to be creative

Happy Monday! (mine hasn't been all that happy but at least I am home from school in one piece!) My dear friend Kirra and I were talking on the phone a few weeks ago and she mentioned that her sister in law was organising a little market of handmade goods in October, Kirra asked if I would like to run a stall with her selling stuff that we've made. I agreed but haven't been at all motivated to make anything, I have been thinking about it lots though and finally made some cards last night....

I'm planning on doing a few prints, maybe a painting or 2, some brooches and some sort of embroidery hoop art.... i'll keep you posted. I had a go at the crayon art from my last post as well it was fun I highly recommend doing it!

An Afternoon at the footy

Toby plays football and I often go to watch. He's had a few years off and this was his first year back. They are in the semi-finals next week so the season is nearly over. I must admit though that when I am there I don't watch much football as these little rascals keep me occupied but I wouldn't have it any other way

How did you spend your Saturday?

Another Weekend!

How was your weekend?
Mine was Fab turned out to be a busy one yet again! Celebrated my sister nonie's (aka Ellise) 19th birthday Friday night. She travelled home from uni just for it and it was lovely to see her! The love our nieces showed her would have made her 5 hour drive well worth it!

Saturday I had a lovely breakfast with some friends and listened to stories of travel, home decor, kids and life and even wen't on an adventure to pick up a Ben 10 cake. It was lovely. In the afternoon Toby and I went to the local coffee festival and brought coffee's and banana bread.

We then wen't to a trivia night. Sunday was spent catching up with more friends and lunch was with Jessica, Casey and my gorgeous niece Willow who is now 9 weeks old. She's growing up way to fast.

Toby humoured me Sunday afternoon by coming grocery shopping with me. I somehow managed to spend $100 more than usual though so I'm not sure if he should come all the time, but I do love the company! All in all a great weekend! I am one content lady. And today was not a bad Monday Either.

Here's to a good week

Flourless Orange cake

Earlier in the week when I wasn't feeling the best I decided to bake. Since our orange tree is full of the most delicious fruit at the moment I decided to bake a flourless orange cake. I'd never baked one before so googled it and cooked the first one that came up. I have often cooked recipes off taste. This recipe was pretty straight forward and easy just a little time consuming getting the oranges soft enough but definitely worth it. Toby even said that it was the best cake I ever made!

Ingredients

  • Melted butter, to grease
  • 2 oranges
  • 3 eggs
  • 215g (1 cup) caster sugar
  • 300g (3 cups) almond meal
  • 1 tsp gluten-free baking powder
  • Orange Syrup

  • 1 orange
  • 155g (3/4 cup) caster sugar

You can find the recipe here

Dirty Laundry

So I have been MIA this week as I've had nothing inspiring to talk about or show. I'm sick (nothing major just a cold and allergies) but I think when you are sick your mind is trapped feeling sorry for yourself and the point of my blog was to be a place where I write about art, design, my home, and what inspires me, so instead or airing my dirty laundry on my blog I thought I'd put up a pic of it and my cute puppies!
Hopefully I'll be back soon with something exciting to share

Splendour Bender

I just had the most amazing weekend. Toby and I just went to Splendour In the Grass at Woodfordia QLD. We met up with our friends Peta and Jonathan and had an absolute blast!

Our sweet little set up

Pete and Jon's even better set up!

This place was amazing it was a natural Amphitheatre surrounded by the bush, the music sounded amazing here, and even a few wallabies came out to enjoy the music.

Just watching some music!

Kanye had a pretty amazing set and some awesome dancers

The view from our tent!

Wellies were worn all weekend (we eventually found some mud but were blessed by glorious weather)

Did you say Margherita?

and what a better way to end a festival with Coldplay and fireworks??

Splendour was over a period of 3 days, it had soooo many food outlets and some pretty cool markets, I could have spent the whole time in them. My highlights other than Kanye and Coldplay were Sparkadia, the crowd waterfall during Cloud control (it was so amazing watch it on youtube here) Kele, drinking wine in the Mo' Rockin wine bar, oh and the tastiest things ever.... organic doughnuts need I say more. I was a little overwhelmed the first night I honestly thought it as like an adult disneyland but we had the most amazing time, it was completely different to any festival I've even been to and I hope to do it again.
