Saturday Night

On Saturday night I got to catch up with most of my favourite girls! It doesn't happen very often, all of us in one room that is, but when it does it's always amazing! One of my friends Katie (on the left below) is moving away for work and Angela (on the right) was celebrating her 26th birthday.

We wen't to a bar that we frequented alot when we first turned 18 so alot of reminiscing was happening! Toby was a good sport and played designated driver for the night! Love him!

We drank champagne and danced up a storm

Jen (second from the left) got engaged last weekend so it was our first time to ohhh and ahhh over her gorgeous engagement ring

I Love these girls and wish they all still lived local so we could meet up every weekend! but I guess living apart makes the times when we do meet up more special.

How did you spend your Saturday night?

Decorate

This year one of my favourite bloggers, Holly Becker along with Joanna Copestick released a book called Decorate. I have wanted to purchase the book since it's release but it took a while to reach Australia and I kept putting it off having more "important" things to purchase. One of my dear friends (who is also very observant) surprised me with the book last week! I was so surprised and thankful, it was such a beautiful gesture and I love her for it!

So as for the book, I love it! It's everything I expected and more. Holly is a great writer as you can see from her blog so f you enjoy her blog you will, like me, love her book. I haven't finished it yet but the homes she chose to display are so inspirational yet achievable, if that makes sense. That's one thing I don't like about decorating books, they are often unrealistic for most people. This book cater's to many taste's and offers advice in all area's of the home. In the school holidays (this time next week yay) I want to create my own mood board for a room in our house.

I Love this quote she uses from Amy Butler in the book:

"Allow yourself the patience to know it will all come together in time, and enjoy the process! For me home decor is not a goal, but a continually evolving and kinetic art project."

Artist's of Note

Yesterday my friend Kelly was showing some new pieces of art she had purchased from etsy and I instantly fell inlove with Emma Leonard's art. Emma is a Melbourne based artist that "draws girls and sometimes triangles". Her drawings are so beautiful I think I my need to purchase one of her prints, I particularly love this one called 'A Perfect Mess'. She also has a nice blog bones, braids and a tricycle

Another Melbourne based artist I adore is Catherine Campbell who I found sometime ago, I think in Frankie Magazine during Uni. Her print 'Waiting for the tide' was one of my first Etsy purchases. At the moment I'm inlove with her prints that incorporate geometic colourful shapes in particular 'Owl in the Attic'. Be sure to check out Catherine's blog My folk lover she is always up to date with the Melbourne art scene.

DIY Bunting

After a stressful day at school yesterday I came home to a clean house with all the washing done and a lovely dinner in the slow cooker. It took me completely by surprise and it was lovely! So with all the extra time I had left I decided to make baby willow some bunting. This was my first attempt ever really sewing anything other than paper so it was quite an achievement. I had ordered some fabric off Etsy earlier in the week and it arrived yesterday so it was perfect timing.
I started by cutting letters out of felt approcimately 3 inches tall,
I then measured how big the triangles needed to be and cut them out folded over so that I wouldnt have to sew the top end (so they looked like a diamond shape when they were cut out)
I then sewed on the letters,
and then sewed around the edges of each of the bunting.
Last but not least I sewed them onto some red velvet ribbon purchased from Etsy

I snuck into their house this morning and hung it up before they arrived home from the hospital. I used one of the blackboards from Jessica's baby shower to write Welcome Home and placed some tissue paper pom pom's alongside.
I think it was a nice little surprise.

Have a great weekend, I'm off to the footy

Look what the postman brought me today

I Love receiving mail! Not bills, but packages and letters! Today my postman had lots for me!
I ordered a whole heaps of craft supplies from Caramelos on etsy, I've brought a few things off their store and their products are great! If you're looking for funky ribbon for gift wrapping etc caramelos is the place to shop! I also received a small package from hush little snoring I ordered a peggy people kit a couple of weeks ago (they are peg dolls) and can't wait to make them! They are a super cute craft idea for kids (clearly I'm a big kid at heart!) I'll share them when they're made!

Mama's Cupcakes!

Toby's Mama used to make the most delicious butterfly cakes for Toby, they were his favourite sweet! Luckily she left us the recipe. I have only made her butterfly cakes once (they weren't quite as nice but still good) but I use the cake mix all the time to make normal cupcakes with butter icing. Yesterday for Dad's birthday I decided to make him Cupcakes in his favourite football team's colours.
So Im going to share the recipe:

1 lb Self Raising Flour
1 Cup of sugar
1/2 lb butter
1 Cup of milk
4 Eggs
     1 tsp of Vanilla

The secret is to cream the butter and sugar before adding the rest of the ingredients.
It will make approx 24 cupcakes, I cook them on 180 degrees celsius for around 25 minutes but my oven is old and not all that great so adjust the time to suit your oven.
To make the icing I just mix a whole lot of butter with icing sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla, oh so unhealthy but oh so fantastic, and dye it to suit your colour theme. The white numbers and stars on dad's cupcakes is "white Icing" Just from the supermarket rolled out and cut out with a cookie cutter, this can also be dyed to suit your theme. I also use lettered stamps to personalise the cakes, and plenty of sprinkles.

Give them a go
I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
xoxo

Babies, Birthdays and Engagements

What a whirlwind of a weekend we have had! It's Sunday Night, ooops no Monday night (Happy birthday to the Queen even though your birthrday is in April Thankyou for this long weekend) and we are exhausted, rugged up watching Doctor Who, coming down off all the sugar consumed over the weekend. June is now officially my biggest birthday month, I now have 4 very important people in my life birthdays within 6 days (Baby Willow 11th, Toby 12th, Dad 13th and Mum 16th).

Baby Willow BeBe was born on Saturday evening after her superwoman mum Jessica went through 11 hours of labour, she was then brought into this world via C Section. She is the cutest little girl and I shall share a pic soon, she was the most beautiful birthday present for Toby. Both mother and daughter are doing well. We spent Toby's birthday with family for breakfast (french toast of course) then headed to our friends (Andrew and Melanie's) engagement party. Even though it poured with rain we all managed to stay dry and eat wonderful food, drink plenty of wine and have an excellent time. Today was spent creating invitations, shopping for Willow, exchanging a present for Toby, baking cupcakes for my dad's 60th, having visitors, then visiting Willow and Jessica, then a dinner out for Dad's birthday.

As you can see a crazy busy weekend, but a wonderful one at that!
That's my dad and niece Millie at Easter time, he look's to young to be 60 don't you think?
I'll share the cupcakes tomorrow

Until then goodnight and sweet dreams xoxo

We have a light!

On saturday before we headed out we tested the fireplace. It looks good here but it did take some time and a youtube clip to light it! How amazing is youtube for stuff like that. On Sunday we spent an hour fiddling with it until we ran out of newspaper and gave up.

We need to find some tools and purchase a cover, I think I need to go shopping :)

Blog's of note

Over the last 2 years I've started reading and following blog's! I have found a few that I regularly read and find inspiration from, which was one of the reason's that led me to start my own blog. This last week I've come across a few  blogs of note! You should take a look at these:

you should also take a look at one of my favourite blogger Elsie's blog a beautiful mess as she was recently married and her wedding is insanely gorgeous, creative, unique and sweet!

Blair's Christening

Yesterday was my baby niece's christening. It was a lovely celebration with family and friends I surrounded by lots and lots of littlies! After the 'special' oil was poured on Blair's head Millie her 2 year old sister told the Deacon that she "didn't want a turn" haha. It was exhausting clearly I am not quite ready for kids!
Here is Blair and Millie with my sister and brother in law they are a beautful faily and make me want one!

I made the invitations and they can be seen in my invitations tab just to the right >>>

It was also nice to catch up with my little sister (the godmother) who drove down from University.

Weekends are always great spent with family.

June

So this morning I woke up at 6.20am and hit snooze and as I was laying there trying to wake up I thought It's June how on earth is it June already? June I mean really the year is nearly half over! June means winter (even though it has been a bit cold the last few weeks) this whole week I have had my chimney sweep cancel on me as it won't stop raining he said wet soot is a no deal! I cant wait to have a fire, I've never had a fireplace before an in this house I have 2!
Below is the fireplace in our bedroom.

So I was thinking about seasons and it took me back to my autumn goals and I can honestly say I've done 5/10 how poor is that! So I'm going to try harder with my winter goals (I don't have any yet but a few autumn goals will be carried over!)

June is going to be a busy month, with christening's, birthday celebrations, & lots of catch ups.
 I say bring it on

What are your plans this June?
